HOW IS DEPRESSION TREATED?

The team at Ohio Psychiatric Services designs customized treatment plans to address your individual experience with depression. Many patients with depression respond well to antidepressants and other prescription medications, but medication is not always necessary to resolve depression.

Your treatment plan may include counseling to help you resolve the underlying issues that contribute to your depression. If you have tried many treatment options in the past without success, you could benefit from transcranial magnetic stimulation and/or Esketamine (Spravato) treatment. TMS is a drug-free treatment that stimulates specific areas of your brain to help regulate your mood. TMS is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression. Read more

ESKETAMINE (SPRAVATO®) is a prescription nasal spray , used along with an antidepressant to treat adults with treatment resistant depression and Major Depression (MDD) in adults with suicidal thoughts or actions. Read more

While both TMS and Esketamine (Spravato®) are efficacious treatments for treatment resistant depression individually, studies have shown that when the two treatments are used together the combined approach yields rapid onset of symptom improvement with longer-term benefits.
